Norrköping Tech Award is presented to an organization whose solution combines technical depth with a positive impact on society. The goal of the award is, therefore, to celebrate technological achievements in Norrköping that make a difference. Over time, the initiative aims to profile Norrköping as an attractive environment for tech talent and inspire others to pursue their own innovations, and most importantly, take pride in living and working in Norrköping.

The jury that selected the first winner included Peter Dahlén, Technical Director at Holmen Paper; Isabelle Hachette, CEO of Interspectral; Catharina Sandberg, CEO of LEAD; Lisa Lindgren, CEO of Visualiseringscenter C; Martin Rantzer, Head of the Department of Technology and Natural Sciences at Linköping University; and Jonas Nilson, CEO of Norrköping Science Park.

Their motivation reads:

The use of connected sensors is increasing worldwide. With sustainable materials and innovative production methods, your technology enables a green digital transformation, eliminating the need for battery replacement. At the same time, you give nature’s waste streams a new purpose. Ligna Energy is a “Tech Changemaker” in sustainable energy transition, with a focus on safety for both people and the environment.

“We are proud to award this year’s Norrköping Tech Award to Ligna Energy. Ligna is a shining example of a Tech Changemaker, someone who utilizes the potential of technology to create a better world. Their presence and work in Norrköping are a source of pride and inspiration for our entire city,” says Jonas Nilson, CEO of Norrköping Science Park.

The award ceremony took place on November 9th as the final of East Sweden Innovation Day at Flygeln in Norrköping. During the ceremony, Ligna received a unique 3D-milled wooden statuette, designed by local talent Disa Bennich and crafted by Stjärnorps Bygg. The statuette is inspired by nature and beehives, which also symbolize building blocks within technology and innovation.
