Taking on Brazil – Eight Tech Companies Exploring a New Market
How do you actually enter a market like Brazil? That’s the question eight tech companies from four countries got to explore first-hand during a week-long delegation to São Paulo, arranged by us at Norrköping Science Park.
Norrköping Science Park has, for the second year in a row, arranged a delegation to São Paulo, Brazil, as part of the international growth project Bridging4Growth. Over the course of five days, eight tech companies from Sweden, Finland, Estonia and Latvia explored what it actually means to enter the Brazilian market.
The program offered a mix of market introductions, matchmaking meetings, workshops and company visits. Among the highlights was a visit to SAAB’s local operations in Brazil, a result of one of the largest export deals in Sweden’s modern history. Participants also met with local experts and entrepreneurs, and pitched their business solutions to a panel with representatives from both Brazilian and Nordic companies.
“This market is very different from the Nordic countries, both culturally and strategically. But there’s also huge potential for companies that are willing to take a long-term approach. Exploring that together with other entrepreneurs and experienced mentors creates both confidence and momentum,” says Linda Robinson, Project leader at Norrköping Science Park and one of the delegation organizers.
The participating companies represented various parts of the tech sector, including microwave-based wood drying, cybersecurity, and digital health solutions. From Norrköping, MicroDri joined the trip, presenting their energy-efficient drying technology for the wood industry.
One of the companies described the experience like this:
“The structure of the delegation gave us a solid foundation. It was well-organized and helped us make the most of every meeting.”
The delegation was part of Bridging4Growth, a project aimed at strengthening internationalization opportunities for small and medium-sized innovative companies. It is funded by the Central Baltic programme and driven by partners from Sweden, Finland, Estonia and Latvia.
