Norrköping is home to a growing tech scene, with companies leading the way in innovation and digital development. But what happens when these companies come together to tackle shared challenges and create new opportunities? The answer is Norrköping Tech Team, a network and collaborative platform with one shared goal: to strengthen and raise the visibility of Norrköping as a tech city.

For Norrköping, by Norrköping

It all started with a few companies sharing a passion for Norrköping and its strong, growing tech scene, full of potential. Within the framework of Norrköping Science Park, the Norrköping Tech Team was created as a collaborative platform where tech-driven companies in Norrköping could come together and make an impact.

Today, the Tech Team unites a total of ten companies: Stadium, Holmen, Siemens Energy, Voyado, HiQ, Interspectral, STMicroelectronics, Everon, Optiplan, and Gaia, along with Linköping University and Norrköping Science Park.

The network provides opportunities for companies to join forces around shared challenges and opportunities. It is a space to learn from each other, collaborate across industries, and nurture the strong technical expertise that exists in the city.

Since its formation, the network has sparked several key initiatives. Here are two you should know about:

The Thesis Program

The Thesis Program is an initiative driven by the shared challenge of talent attraction and competence supply.

Norrköping is fortunate to have a strong university presence through Linköping University’s campus in the city, offering high-quality engineering and technology education. Each year, many students connect with Tech Team companies through their thesis projects. From this interaction, the idea was born to create a platform for thesis students to connect with each other and explore other companies within the network during their thesis period.

These visits provide students with a unique insight into Norrköping’s tech ecosystem and the opportunity to meet potential future employers. Just as importantly, they offer local companies a valuable chance to engage with the next generation of tech talent.

Norrköping Tech Award

Another initiative born from the Tech Team network is the Norrköping Tech Award, a celebration of companies and organizations using technology to make a positive impact on society. The award shines a spotlight on local changemakers and aims to inspire others by sharing their stories.

The award is presented annually during Norrköping Tech Day, the city’s largest tech event, organized by Norrköping Science Park in collaboration with the business incubator LEAD.

Voices from the Tech Team

“Norrköping has fantastic competence, and by coming together in the Tech Team, we at Stadium, alongside other local companies, can help showcase the skills and opportunities available here. It’s inspiring to see how we can drive innovation and development, locally rooted but with the world as our playing field. Working with world-class technology doesn’t require a big city, it works perfectly well from Norrköping.”

— Peter Carlson Hellqvist, Supply Chain Development Manager, and Jonas Elmqvist, Head of Tech at Stadium

“As a tech company in a growing city, we see the power of collaboration. By helping to shape a vibrant tech scene, we want to inspire students to stay, grow with us, and strengthen the region’s innovation capacity.”

— Peter Dahlén, Technical Director, Holmen Board and Paper

“For us as a tech employer, we benefit when Norrköping grows as a tech city. It makes talent attraction easier, but also signals to future tech professionals that there are multiple career paths to pursue here. The collaboration creates a community and a united voice to drive initiatives that benefit all of us. What I also hope to see growing, and where the Tech Team can play a vital role, is a stronger bridge between the tech companies and academic research. While research is often by nature narrow and specialized, it can spark new startups and raise broader industry questions. The Tech Team can help close that gap.”

— Magnus Broerers, Transformation and Innovation Manager, Voyado

“We see two main drivers behind this collaboration. First, it’s a valuable forum for sharing contacts, knowledge, and experiences. Second, together with other tech companies in the region, we want to highlight the excitement of technology development, the attractive job opportunities, and the diverse career paths available. By opening up the tech sector, from research to development and production, we can showcase all the great things already happening here. In doing so, we hope to inspire and motivate young people to pursue education and a future career in technology.”

— Björn Magnusson, Site Manager at STMicroelectronics Silicon Carbide AB
